Beekeeping
To Bee or Not to Bee
All this talk about bees has got us thinking...could we have our own bee-hive? I sadly missed several beginner bee-keeping classes here in San Diego given earlier in the year but I managed to find one more at the Cultivating Food Justice Conference 4/24-4/25.
In the meantime here is a general write up on beekeeping from the University of California.
We just delved into keeping bees. We're actually not technically keeping them though. We're just hosting the hives for a biology professor that is breeding queens. I hope to learn more from him though on how to care for our own when the time comes.
Keeping bees is no longer illegal in NYC, despite what this video states.
ReplyDeleteAre you familiar with the Backward Beekeepers?

I'm in Northern California, but I still check in with them, because I think there's a lot to be learned from their approach.
